2009 Rock Picnic

Parents, Coaches, Swimmers, and Divers joined together in the Dublin Recreation Center Pavillion for the annual fall picnic.

The turnout was the strongest that Mike O'Brien, co-President of the Rocks Swimming and Diving Team, has seen in his three years of attending the picnic.

The picnic started off with a table full of terrific foods brought by the students and parents, and then transitioned into the kick-off meeting for the upcoming season. Mike started off by introducing the officers of this year's team:

Mike and Kathy O'Brien, Presidents (Mike says that Kathy is the REAL president )

Dive Representative - Michele Vaughn

Team Captains - Kyle Bailey, Andy Rish, Hilary Knisley, Lizzy Bryan

There are several fundraising events that were announced that will really benefit from parents participation. The first doughnut sale at a Dublin Coffman football game raised over $800, and there are three more home games sales planned for this season - 9/18, 10/9, and 10/23. The other big fundraiser for the season is the 2009 Spooktacular scheduled for October 15 at the Dublin Recreation Center. Coaches Steve VonSchriltz and Ryan Wilson each spoke a few minutes about their hopes and advice to the swimmers and divers for the upcoming seaons. Coach VonSchriltz remarked that he is excited about the upcoming swim schedule with three invitationals. He strongly encouraged all the kids to begin training and conditioning as soon as possible, even if they are competing in other sports right now.
